The squad also features Ruturaj Gaikwad as the vice-captain, who will also lead India’s men’s cricket team in the upcoming Asian Games 2023. Additionally, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma, part of the lineup for a 5-match T20I series against the West Indies in the first week of August, are included in the squad.
For wicketkeeping duties, Sanju Samson has been entrusted with the primary role, while Jitesh Sharma from Punjab Kings makes a return as the second wicketkeeper option. The all-round capabilities of Washington Sundar and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed bring valuable diversity to the team’s composition.
Adding depth to the all-round talents, Shivam Dube makes a comeback to the squad after his last T20I appearance for India in February 2022. Dube, who has showcased his form in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy for West Zone, also secures a spot in the Asian Games squad.
