Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has secured the services of 27-year-old French defender Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £34m. Hernandez, who won the 2018 World Cup with France, played an instrumental role in helping Bayern Munich secure a treble in his debut season with the club in 2019-2020. The team won the domestic league and cup double before going on to beat PSG to win the coveted Champions League title.
Over his tenure with Bayern Munich, Hernandez made 107 appearances and scored two goals. He has now signed a five-year deal with PSG and expressed his excitement over joining the club, stating that he has been waiting for this moment for a long time.
Hernandez’s knee injury, which he sustained during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, prevented him from playing further. Despite this setback, his performance in the third group game against Australia was commendable, helping France secure a 4-1 win.
The sibling of Lucas Hernandez, Theo Hernandez, is a player for AC Milan in the Italian Serie A league.
